A herby shrub to about 1.5 m tall with soft, hairy leaves and very pretty, pink to purplish flowers, native to grasslands and thickets between 200 and 2300 m from northeastern India to China, Taiwan and Vietnam. A very easy and fast growing ornamental for warm temperate areas.
